Double Bass Studio
The Ƶ double bass studio has produced some of the finest double bassists in the nation, including Robert Oppelt, principal bass of the ; Rion Wentworth, newest member of the ; Christian Gray, newest member of the ; Robert Widlowski, bassist with the in Japan and many more.
Graduates of the studio in recent years have gone on to earn the largest scholarships offered at schools such as the University of Michigan, Indiana University, University of North Texas, Northwestern University, Carnegie-Mellon University, New York University and many more. The double bass studio has been represented multiple times in the and the International Society of Bassists Solo Competition semi-finals, and has produced numerous competition prizewinners at NC-MTNA and at the NC-ASTA solo competition.
The members of the double bass studio at Ƶ pride themselves on the excellence that we have produced and their current musical accomplishments. But, perhaps more importantly, they view themselves as members of the Ƶ “bass family” and support and inspire each other daily, aided by the engaging artistic environment that the larger Ƶ community provides.
