2023-24 School of Dance Performance Season

Outlaw. 鈥淲e have faculty, successful alumni and guest artists returning to create gorgeous ballet and contemporary works on our talented students! Dance Season Highlights
"The Nutcracker"
The School of Dance returns with the beloved holiday favorite, 鈥The Nutcracker,鈥 as choreographed by faculty artist Ilya Kozadayev 鈥 presented for the first time this year at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro.
Fall Dance and Emerging Choreographers
Fall Dance kicks off the School of Dance鈥檚 inclusive and eclectic performance season followed by the popular Emerging Choreographers Concert, featuring senior contemporary dance students.
Winter and Spring Dance
In celebration of Black History Month, Winter Dance will feature premieres by prominent choreographers of color, including 抖阴短视频 alum , , and adjunct faculty member . A West African dance instructor, Williams, founder and artistic director of , will be choreographing an African dance 鈥 the first time this style has been performed at 抖阴短视频.
In addition to these new works, an excerpt from 鈥淛oplin Dances,鈥 premiered by Dance Theatre of Harlem in 1995 and set to music by renowned African American composer Scott Joplin, is on the program.
The season will conclude with an exciting Spring Dance highlighted by a version of Stravinsky鈥檚 鈥淭he Firebird鈥 set in a Caribbean environment, with the 抖阴短视频 Symphony Orchestra performing the dazzling score, under the baton of conducting faculty member Mark Norman.
