Maleek was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. Their journey as a performer and storyteller began around four years old. From impromptu performances during holidays of songs they heard on the radio, to opening plays with a cast full of Marvel Heroes, Bratz and Hot Wheels in the woods behind Grandma鈥檚 house. Maleek soon found that theatre satisfied their hunger for stories, dreaming and performing.
After spending their first three years in high school in the Theatre Department at Weaver Academy for the Performing and Visual Arts, Maleek was accepted into 抖阴短视频鈥檚 senior year Drama program and subsequently college. The past five years at 抖阴短视频 have helped them cultivate their craft and further explore their artistic voice. Maleek unapologetically brings their heart, unique experience, deep curiosity and desire for learning into every room they work in.
While at 抖阴短视频, Maleek has performed in 鈥淭he Ciderhouse Rules, Part 1 & 2鈥 directed by Quin Gordon; 鈥淒own in the Face of God鈥 directed by Cameron Knight; and 鈥淟ove and Depositions,鈥 directed by Mollye Maxner, a devised piece adapted from Seneca鈥檚 鈥淭he Trojan Women.鈥 They have also worked on a few independent and School of Filmmaking projects. Their upcoming roles include; John in 鈥淭he Shawl鈥 directed by Carl Forsman and Hester in 鈥淚n the Blood鈥 directed by Acadia Barrengos. In their free time, you can find this 鈥済entle giant鈥 writing and consuming poetry, binging the newest limited series, searching for the best coffee/pastry the city has to offer or partying with friends.
