抖阴短视频 Presents: December and January performance highlights

The 抖阴短视频 2024鈥25 performance season, 鈥湺兑醵淌悠 Presents,鈥 continues in December and January 2025 with performances by the 抖阴短视频 Guitar Studio; the 抖阴短视频 Cantata Singers; the cello/bass duo Low & Lower; and the contemporary music-focused nu Ensemble. The wildly popular Mozart Birthday Concert rounds out the first month of the new year. 

Tickets for these December events are free and can be reserved online. All other events are $25 for adults and $20 for non-抖阴短视频 students with a valid ID, and tickets can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 336-721-1945.

And don't forget 抖阴短视频's annual production of "The Nutcracker," Dec. 6-8 at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro.

抖阴短视频 Guitar Studio in Recital - Dec. 3

The School of Music Guitar Studio under the guidance of Guitar Department Chair Joseph Pecoraro and Music faculty member Luke Payne, take to the stage for a recital that will feature up-and-coming guitarists performing a mix of solo and ensemble works in this annual event. The free concert will take place Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Watson Hall, located on the 抖阴短视频 campus, 1533 South Main St.

抖阴短视频 Cantata Singers Holiday Concert - Dec. 8

The School of Music at 抖阴短视频 will present the 抖阴短视频 Cantata Singers in its annual concert embracing the holiday season. Led by faculty member James Allbritten, the music director of the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, the Cantata Singers will perform a program of beloved repertoire. The free concert will take place at the Home Moravian Church, 529 S. Church St., on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m.

Low & Lower Standards - Jan. 21

School of Music faculty members Brooks Whitehouse, cello, and Paul Sharpe, double bass, will bring their musical duo Low & Lower to the stage in a program titled "Low & Lower Standards." Offering a performance that highlights their mastery of the strings as well as a unique blend of humor and creativity, the duo is known for their entertaining and inventive style formed during 15 years of bringing wit and musical expertise to audiences, sometimes adding vocals and unexpected twists. Their repertoire includes musical standards, new works, arrangements and parodies of nursery rhymes and poetry. The concert will take place at Watson Hall on the 抖阴短视频 campus, 1533 South Main St., on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

nu Ensemble - Jan. 25

The nu Ensemble at 抖阴短视频 will present a concert of contemporary compositions by leading composers, featuring works that include Anna Clyne's 鈥淯ndertow,鈥 performed by a double woodwind quintet, a piece known for its intricate and immersive qualities. The concert will also feature David Lang's 鈥淎re You Experienced?鈥 with faculty artist Brent Harvey as the tuba soloist. Lang's work challenges traditional musical forms through avant-garde elements and electronic enhancements.

Additionally, the 抖阴短视频 Percussion Studio will perform Aarush Bothra's 鈥淪pring,鈥 a vibrant piece that reflects the energy and renewal of the season, which will be accompanied by a visually striking film. The concert will take place at Watson Hall on the 抖阴短视频 campus, 1533 South Main St., on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Happy Birthday, Mozart! - Jan. 26

抖阴短视频 faculty artists come together for a breathtaking performance of chamber music in honor of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart鈥檚 269th birthday. The event has been a mainstay on the School of Music鈥檚 performance season since 1978.  The concert will take place at Watson Hall on the 抖阴短视频 campus, 1533 South Main St., on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m.
