Emergency Notification Policy
Timely Warning
In accordance with the Clery Act, ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Police will issue timely warnings to the campus community regarding Clery Act crimes that have occurred on or near campus and may still pose a serious or ongoing threat to safety. The decision to issue a timely warning is made by the Chief of Police or their designee.
Timely warnings are intended to allow individuals to take precautions to protect themselves from similar crimes. These warnings are distributed via email and provide relevant safety information while maintaining the integrity of law enforcement efforts.
Every effort is made to quickly gather and assess information regarding potential risks. A timely warning will be issued within a reasonable time frame, considering the need to evaluate the credibility and urgency of the information.
Emergency Notifications
Emergency Notification Regulation 710
The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Emergency Notification System (¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ ALERT) distributes important information regarding emergencies and situations that pose an immediate threat to the campus, requiring quick community awareness and action, as mandated by the Clery Act.
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ ALERT uses multiple communication methods, including:
- Phone (recorded voice/text-to-speech messages)
- Emails
- Text messages
- Social media (¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ's Facebook and X accounts)
- Website
- Digital signage
- Safety app
- Desktop notifications
Faculty, staff, and students can update their contact information to receive ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ ALERT in the E-Z Arts web portal.
Desktop Notification
This feature provides an immediate way for the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Police to communicate emergency information directly to your computer screen. The Desktop Notification is automatically installed on all university-issued computers, ensuring that critical alerts are received without delay. Testing of the system occurs on the last Friday of October, January, and April at 12:00 PM.
Outside Call Boxes/Blue Light Phones
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is equipped with Emergency Call Box locations featuring integrated loudspeakers. The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Police will activate the loudspeakers when necessary to inform the community. These speakers will broadcast an audible tone followed by important information and instructions.
